WHY THE MEDITERRANEAN?

The Mediterranean is the birthplace of luxury yacht charter and has evolved into one of the most appealing cruising destinations in the world. Chartering a yacht to explore the Greek Islands is a popular way to not only experience the larger, popular islands, but it’s also a fabulous way to encounter some of the smaller, less crowded, out of the way islands and islets. This area is an experience that can only delight.

WHY CHARTER A YACHT IN GREECE?

  • Island hopping delight
  • Ancient ruins & architecture
  • Fascinating culture
  • Breath-taking scenery
  • Scrumptious meals
  • Great sailing & exotic beaches

Each island has its own unique style, charm, and history. Clear waters lap against white or red sand beaches. In Greece, you will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of local cuisine from decadent lamb and seafood dishes to simple, yet tasty, street food. Wine and Ouzo from various regions of Greece are plentiful and delicious. When you charter a yacht in Greece, there is an island for everyone.

SOME “WHAT NOT TO MISS” ITEMS IN GREECE

ATHENS – The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky outcrop above the city of Athens; built this way for protection. It contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance and used to be the site of the famous statue of Athena who was also the goddess of Athens.

SANTORINI – The sunset from the castle at Ohia in Santorini is probably the most romantic of any place in Greece, attracting millions of tourists per year.

CYCLADES ISLANDS – The little sugar houses and associated villages, with their paved paths as well as the windmills and blue-domed churches of the Cyclades islands are probably the most well recognized in Greece. This, along with the exotic beaches make this island the most popular in all of Greece.

CORFU – Due to the lengthy occupation by the Venetians in Greece, the architecture of Corfu resembles the old town of Italy and as such, walking the Old Town of Corfu is like walking around the Renaissance towns of Italy, such as Florence or Naples.

MYKONOS – Even though Mykonos is a quintessential Greek Island, with its outdoor attractions, picturesque landscapes and exotic beaches, it is also a great place for nightlife. There are options for all tastes, from lounge bars to gourmet restaurants, traditional taverns and dance clubs. Come and show off your moves.

GREEK CUISINE – Greece is spoiled by a climate that’s both dry and hot for much of the year and therefore is agriculturally blessed with a wide variety of local food products. For a true taste of Greece, enjoy a (meze) platter of starters and dips accompanied by a glass of ouzo or one of the many wines that are locally produced. In any language, enjoying Greek cuisine is a cultural experience not to be missed.
